Little Venice is the most well-known place to visit in Mykonos island. The rows of houses line the waterfront with their balconies hanging over the sea offer a beautiful view that resembles the famous Italian city. Across the Little Venice and a very short walk away, five windmills- a defining feature of the Mykonian landscape- are located. During the 19th century they were all operational and many Mykonians worked there to mill flour. Nowadays, they have been refurbished and restored to serve as homes to locals and vaults to Mykonian heritage documents. The best time to visit the greater area of Little Venice and the windmills is the evening. The sunset offers a magnificent view which is enhanced by this picturesque location.
